Update: Pocket Genealogist 2.96D (Public Beta)

Via the developer, the latest public beta of Pocket Genealogist is out :

2.96D is now on the Public Beta website. It adds support for DNAinformation with TMG version 6 and Legacy version 6. You will need to re-import in order to get the information. (if you are using thepre-release of Legacy V6 or a beta of Legacy v6, you definitely will need to re-import)

You can download it at the Northern Hills Software Public Beta site.

GPS Guides

Jake at Aximsite.com wrote two guides to using GPS hardware and software that you might find interesting. It’s tilted heavily towards Pocket PC/Windows Mobile, but still has more than enough information for anybody curious about using GPS in general.

Might be handy to know if your curious about plotting locations important to you (homesteads, cemeteries, etc.).

Family Tree Legends, GedStar, Pocket Genealogist

Just a quick note about Family Tree Legends 5.0 (Windows genealogy software). Mike sent me a note pointing out that on the new features section of the Family Tree Legends 5.0 website, there is this little blurb:

GedWise – Linux & Mac OS X

I spoke with the developers, and GedWise 6.3 for Linux is going to install the same version of GedWise as is installed through the Windows installer.

I asked about a Mac OS X version as well, and they mentioned that they are working on a Mac OS X based GedWise, and that the Linux version was a first step towards that.

If they have no problems, it’s possible a Mac OS X version of GedWise could be out before the end of the year.
