Pocket Genealogist 2.96.2

A new public beta/pre-release of Pocket Genealogist is available – version 2.96.2

This update contains two new fixes:
* When adding a child to an individual with no spouses, you will be prompted if you wish to create a family record in order to add the child. A fix was made to make the new “unknown” spouse the “preferred” spouse so that the child will be properly displayed in Legacy when doing a 2-way sync.
* Change to the Find screen for the German translation to remove a truncation issue.

Pocket Genealogist has a new pre-release out – version 2.96.1(Beta Site)

Updates:
* Change to Surname and Given name processing (All imports) to allowduplicates if the ‘case’ is mixed. (For example, SMITH and Smith are 2different surnames) You don’t need to re-import your Legacy database, youcan start using this feature immediately.
* This changed also fixed a problem with 2-way syncs with the Greek language.
* Changed PAF/FTM Genbridge imports to set the living/dead flag based onpresence of a burial or death event. (You must re-import to see thischange)
* Fix to Legacy V5 2-way synchronizing. (Introduced with 2.96 – would causea “Changes also found in Legacy” warning which would stop the 2-way sync)Version 6 syncs were fine.
* Changed the RootsMagic profile to export notes in the proper format forRootsMagic. (Break lines within a word instead of between words)
* Fix to the “Customize” screens (most imports) to properly display the”checked” items. (Failure would only occur on Windows 95, 98 and ME)

Pocket Ancestry 1.72

September 16, 2005 by Administrator · Comments Off

Today, I came across a Pocket PC application that has been around for a while, Pocket Ancestry. It was originally known as Pocket Genealogy but the name was changed to differentiate it from other products.

It’s a free program, and looks like it was updated in July, 2005.

Pocket Ancestry is a program for Pocket PC2002 that gives you a possibility to view genealogy information from the file in GEDCOM format. Not all the attributes of GEDCOM standard are taken into account. For the details please see program help. Genealogical data could be displayed in various layouts:

    * list of all the persons in data file
    * list of “patriarchs” (persons having great-grandchildren, i.e. persons, which have descendant tree with selected number of levels in depth – three levels by default)
    * information about one person selected from the list
    * tree of all the ancestors or all the descendants of selected person
    * family of selected person
    * parents’ family of selected person.

User has a possibility to tune some aspects of program behavior.
