GedView 2.14.1 – iOS 4, Multitasking

Earlier this month, the ability to import GEDCOM files from email attachments, as well as importing GEDCOM files through Safari from certain websites (RootsWeb, Ancestry.com, FamilySearch) was added to GedView for iPad users.

With GedView 2.14.1 being updated for iOS 4, the ability to import GEDCOM files through the above means was added for iPhone/iPod Touches running iOS 4, and not just the iPad running iOS 3.2. Support for multitasking was also added.

MobileFamilyTree 2.5.1 – Supports Multitasking, iOS 4

Synium has updated their iPhone OS / iOS version of MacFamilyTree, MobileFamilyTree, with a few bugfixes as well as support for the upcoming iOS 4, aka Apple’s iPhone OS 4.0.

The major thing of interest is that MobileFamilyTree has added multi-tasking support. Apple’s iOS 4 will support multitasking apps if they are coded with support for it, which Syndium Software has done.

It was just a few weeks ago that they added native iPad support to MobileFamilyTree.

GedView 2.14

GedView, an iPhone OS-based genealogy application has been updated to version 2.14. This is a major version, with quite a few additions, especially for those who use Family Tree Maker or who are iPad users. GedView is a stand-alone genealogy program, that is not tied to any particular genealogy software – as its name implies, it’s based around importing GEDCOM files.

Added:
* Support added for _EMPLOY custom employment event used by Family Tree Maker.
* Support multiple ADDR facts on individuals as used by Family Tree Maker.
* Font size in notes can be customized by using the standard zoom pinch gesture.
* Support importing GEDCOM files from email attachments (iPad only)
* Support opening GEDCOM files from other apps such as Safari. Opening from Safari depends on the site (Compatible websites include RootsWeb, Ancestry, and FamilySearch. (iPad only))
* Support for importing GEDCOM files via file sharing in iTunes (iPad only)
* Export GEDCOM files for transfer via file sharing in iTunes (iPad only)
