GedView 3.2.3

GedView, an iOS genealogy application for iPhones, iPod touches, and iPads has been updated to 3.2.3. This release includes a few minor bug fixes.

GedView is a genealogy data viewer and editor for iOS devices. In addition to viewing and editing genealogy data, you can take advantage of the hardware of your iOS device, including using it to take photos and videos for your genealogy information. You can alos have multiple family trees that are separate from one another.

It does not require a specific genealogy application on your PC or Mac – all information is handled through GEDCOM files and can be shared through iTunes, Mail, Safari, Dropbox, etc. The data is actually stored on your iOS device until you copy it off, for those times when you don’t have a decent internet connection.

Your Family Tree 1.2 for iOS

Your Family Tree has been updated to version 1.2, to fix some Newsstand issues with Apple’s Newsstand software/folder. Newsstand is a feature of newer versions of iOS that allow you to easily manage your magazine and newspaper subscriptions.

Your Family Tree is a genealogy magazine (one that I frequently purchase) that covers a wide range of articles and information. Your Family Tree is also known as Your Family History outside of the United Kingdom.

Genealogy Gems – Your Family History Show 1.9.9

The Genealogy Gems “Your Family History Show” iOS App was upgraded with several features, as it appears they are headed towards version 2.0.

Genealogy Gems is not just a podcast, although it grew out of a podcast. Thanks to iOS features and the work of the Genealogy Gems folks, you can access the following through the app for some of the shows:
* PDF documents that contain tips, ideas, and information from the shows
* Bonus audio and video content that may not have made it into the Genealogy Gems show
* Follow the show on Twitter

And if you have an iPhone, it has the ability to call in to the show for audio comments.

FamViewer 2.5 Released – iOS 5 Compatibility

FamViewer 2.5 is now available through Apple’s iTunes App Store.

It’s a “Universal” genealogy iOS app for iPads, iPhones, and iPod touchs that allows you to view GEDCOM data through a variety of ways – families, family trees, etc. You can import GEDCOM files through a variety of ways, including through itunes file sharing. You can also add notes to entries and email those notes to yourself.

FamViewer is not tied to a specific desktop genealogy application, unlike some iOS genealogy applications.

This is a major update if you are an iOS 5.0 user. Otherwise you can probably pass on it, as iOS 5.0 compatibility is the major update.

Family Trees 1.1 for iOS

Family Trees 1.1 for iOS was released last week with several improvements. Family Trees is a new application (the first release was this month). It’s for iPhones, iPod touches, and iPads running iOS 4.0 or later, and is a genealogy application for iOS devices. It is platform-independent and does not require an installed genealogy application on your Mac or PC.

Version 1.1 adds four new features:
* Export to image functionality
* Sending by email of members biographies
* Displaying the events-associated locations on the world map
* Ability to search members through a family tree

It’s $1.99 in the Apple iTunes App Store.
