GedView 3.2.4

GedView 3.2.4 has been released. GedView is an iOS-based genealogy application that runs on iPhones, iPod touches, and iPads (separate versions for iPads and iPhone/iPod touches). It allows you to view and edit genealogy information. It is not tied to any specific PC or Mac genealogy application.

MobileFamilyTree Pro 1.1.2 Released, Still On Sale

MobileFamilyTree Pro 1.1.2 has been released by Synium Software.

Just a reminder – MobileFamilyTree Pro is still on sale through January 17, 2012. Normally it’s $14.99, currently it’s $7.99 (US).

MobileFamilyTree Pro is not like earlier non-pro mobile application from Synium. This is a full genealogy application that does not require a Mac or PC, and can be used to exchange genealogy information with any application that uses the GEDCOM standard. However, it is based on MacFamilyTree (Mac App Store) and will be familiar to those who use it.

It allows you to edit information from your iOS device, and you can even take photos or video with your device and add to your tree if your device supports it.

It fully syncs with MacFamilyTree if you have a Mac, and the conflict management has been improved.

Internet Genealogy Magazine 4.1.2 for iOS

If you own an iPad 2 with iOS 5, it is highly recommended you upgrade to version 4.1.2. It also addresses some Newsstand compatibility issues.

Internet Genealogy Magazine for iOS is similar to Your Family Tree for iOS (aka Your Family History) – It’s a magazine focused around using the internet for your genealogy resesarch. Keep in mind that it is $1.99, which allows you to download one issue of IGM of your choice, other issues will cost more and will need to be purchased within the application.

Ancestry 3.0.1 for iOS

Ancestry 3.0.1 for iOS devices has been released.

This is a major update to Ancestry.com’s iOS software.

Among other new features, there is a “Shaky Leaves” feature to help with “brick walls” that you may encounter. There are also several other improvements, and in-app purchases of Ancestry.com services is now supported.

Ancestry is genealogy software – it does allow you to build new family trees, but it’s focus is on interacting with family trees you’ve built through Ancestry.com. You can add and edit individuals, events, add documents, and upload photos. It is free, but as I said, the main focus is working with Ancestry.com which can require subscription fees.

Your Family Tree 1.2 for iOS

Your Family Tree has been updated to version 1.2, to fix some Newsstand issues with Apple’s Newsstand software/folder. Newsstand is a feature of newer versions of iOS that allow you to easily manage your magazine and newspaper subscriptions.

Your Family Tree is a genealogy magazine (one that I frequently purchase) that covers a wide range of articles and information. Your Family Tree is also known as Your Family History outside of the United Kingdom.
